From meticulously selected Nebbiolo grapes and grapes raisined for Sforzato, Il Monastero is our red wine with an intense character, aged on the steep slopes of Valtellina.
Tasting Notes
Intense ruby red; its aroma ranges from raspberry. violet and ripe plum, to tobacco and chocolate; on the palate it is complex, concentrated, strong in character yet delicate all the same; well-balanced acidity with mature tannins, pleasant woody notes and a good persistence
Serving suggestions
Ideal served with rich red meats, game and grilled meats
A year in which the cold month of May led to delays in cultivation operations, although we soon caught up thanks to a warmer and dryer spring, thus regularising the growth cycle.
In these conditions, the cultivation project yielded good results. Agronomic interventions confirmed the goodness of the product, with wine test results confirming the excellence of this vintage.
Terrain Composition
Sandy clay, poor in humus and highly permeable. All these factors are favourable for aromas and preservation
